From Sleep Struggles to Sleep Solutions
In 2017, Founder and Sleep Expert Alison Macklin became a new mom to a baby who struggled with sleep. She experienced the all-consuming exhaustion and anxiety that often comes with this difficult phase. Since then, she vowed that she would do everything possible to help families avoid the same sleep struggles she and her daughter went through.
The Nightly Dilemma
She remembers the stressful, sleepless nights, wondering if her baby was still breathing. Because getting her daughter to sleep had been a battle, Alison didn’t want to wake her, so she was faced with the nightly dilemma of how to figure out whether her daughter was still ok.
A Simple and Reassuring Solution
Over the years as a trained sleep expert guiding families through the same situations, it became clear that families needed something simple and reassuring. That’s when she came up with the idea for Sleep of Mind and our reflective infant sleepwear. Its patent-pending design is intended to bring you the peace of mind every parent needs to get and give good sleep to their family—all without waking their child or buying expensive gadgets that aren’t recommended by the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics).
Designed With Safety in Mind
Being able to see if your child is doing well while sleeping away from you is something so critical to many parents. Video monitors give parents an excellent window into how their child is doing. But with the very real risk of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome), many parents also want to know if their child is breathing well, especially when they haven't moved in a while.
That’s why our sleepwear is specially designed to give parents more visual input on their child’s movements via any video monitor with night vision. This makes it easier to see your child's chest rising and falling. And easier for you to breathe a sigh of relief.
But we don’t want peace of mind to stop at just seeing your baby moving! We have also vetted each component of our products, so you can feel good about the garment your baby is sleeping in. Read more about how we’ve gone above and beyond in choosing the best fabrics, suppliers, and closures for our sleepwear.
Everyone Deserves Access to Sleep
Good sleep shouldn't be expensive or exclusive. We believe that sleep is a basic (and important!) human need, and that good sleep should be accessible to everyone. That's why we work diligently to make sure our premium sleep garments and our unique design are as safe and healthy as they are affordable.
Changing The World With The Sleep of Mind Effect
We aim for everyone to have less anxiety, more peace of mind, and better sleep, giving you more energy to do the important things you care about.
When you can sleep better, your parenting, work, and well-being get better, which makes our community a better place for everyone. That ripple effect is what fuels us. Because when anyone—a child, parent, teacher, nurse, CFO, or President, or anyone in between—gets more sleep, it can change the world.
What does Sleep of Mind mean?
When you have less to worry about, you can sleep better, so Sleep of Mind is the notion that the brain is relaxed and in a rested state.
And there’s science to back up this idea. Stress and anxiety can be measured in brain waves. The more active the brain, the more erratic brain waves appear. When the brain calms and enters into deeper sleep, the slower and smoother the brain waves. That’s why the Sleep of Mind design you see incorporates that slow, calm wave iconography.
Meet Our Family
Alison Macklin | Mom & Founder CEO
I’m a mama, Certified Child Sleep Expert and a Certified Hand in Hand Parenting Instructor from Toronto, Canada! I love improving sleep for people of all ages because I see how much more enjoyable life is when your family is sleeping well.
I became sleep-obsessed when my daughter was born and had major sleep struggles. A sleep consultant changed my life and I went from dreading every hour, to being able to enjoy life with my new baby. But the lack of good information about infant sleep frustrated me. Since then, my mission has been to help as many families as possible avoid the experience that I went through, and make awesome sleep more accessible to everyone.
Rhowena Adolfo Patel | Mom & CFO
When I became a first-time mama in 2018, after spending 15 years in the financial industry, I was appalled by the lack of care, aid, and resources in maternal healthcare. Since then, I have become a childbirth and postpartum product expert, speaker and advocate, dedicating my time and energy to raising the standard of care for every new and expectant parent.
Outside of my passion for easier transitions into parenthood, I have backpacked 58 countries, 7 of which were with our infant. Nothing can truly encompass and prepare you for everything that parenthood unfolds, but I know that having the right products, tools, and resources at your fingertips can ease that transformative experience from struggle to joy and wonder.
Brent Dillie | Dad & COO
I'm an engineer, entrepreneur, and most importantly, a new Dad. In the past, my wife and I often found ourselves anxiously checking our baby monitor, trying to see that our little one was still breathing. We’d zoom in, zoom out, and ask each other to take a look, all in an attempt to ease our worries. I instantly fell in love with the simplicity and reliability of Sleep of Mind as a way to ensure our baby’s well-being. It allowed my wife and I to rest easy, and I'm thrilled to share it with the world!
Professionally, I've created, managed, and grown several companies in the retail and healthcare sectors, including one that supported the United States and Canada with FDA-cleared facial protection during and after the pandemic and another that supplies over 4,000 hospitals across North America.
