From the founder
Every parent knows the 2 A.M. squint.
You wake up. You don't know why. And before you're even properly awake, you're reaching for the monitor, holding it close to your face, staring at a grainy little shape in the dark, waiting to see it move.
Sometimes you see it right away and you exhale. Sometimes you don't, and you lie there for another thirty seconds that feel like an hour. And sometimes you get up, walk down the hall, and put your hand on your baby's back, because you just need to know.
I did that for months. I'm a certified sleep expert. I've helped families through some of the hardest nights of their lives. And I still did it, night after night.
Knowing something as a professional and feeling it as a mother are two very different things.
The thing that bothered me
What bothered me wasn't that I was checking. Checking is love. What bothered me was how hard it was to check.
Night vision monitors are grayscale, grainy, and low contrast by nature. A sleeping baby in a plain swaddle is basically a smooth pale blob on screen. There is nothing for your eye to hold onto. So you squint, and you zoom, and you second-guess, and eventually you get out of bed.
Meanwhile, the fix for everything on the market seemed to be: add another device. Strap something to your baby. Charge it. Pair it. Get alerts on your phone. Pay a subscription. And then lie awake worrying about whether the device is working.
I didn't want another device. I wanted to be able to see.
So we put it in the fabric
The Sleep of Mind Swaddle Blanket has a reflective wave, what we call the Shimmer Effect, woven directly into the fabric across the chest.
Under the infrared light of a night vision camera, that reflective wave catches the light. And because it sits right over your baby's chest, it moves as they breathe. Rise, fall, rise, fall. From across the room, on the monitor you already own, you can simply see it.
Let me be really clear about this, because you deserve that honesty.
This is not a medical device. It does not monitor your baby, it does not detect distress, and it will never sound an alarm. It makes breathing movement easier to see through the camera you already have. That's it. Always follow safe sleep practices, and always check on your baby any time you feel unsure. This blanket doesn't replace your instincts. It just gives them something to work with.
What the experts said
Before we made a single one, we put it in front of the people who work with infants every day.

That mattered to me more than any marketing line we could have written. If the people who do this professionally didn't think it was worth a parent's money, we weren't going to make it.
The blanket itself
Since we were making it anyway, we made it the way I always wished someone would. It's 100% GOTS certified organic cotton and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, with no bleach and no dye. It's an all-season TOG, super soft and very skin friendly. The color is gender-neutral, so perfect to keep for the next baby. And it swaddles arms in or arms out, because every baby has an opinion about that.
It's a small batch, and it drops July 14
This is a limited edition run. We made it in a small batch as a thank-you to the community that kept asking for it, and honestly, we don't know yet whether we'll be able to make more.
Nearly half of these end up being bought as gifts, which I love, because this is exactly the sort of thing you'd never think to buy yourself and would never forget receiving at 2 A.M.
If you've ever done the squint, this one is for you.
Sleep of Mind is not a medical device and does not monitor, diagnose, detect distress, or sound an alarm. It helps make breathing movement easier to see through your night vision monitor. Always follow safe sleep practices and check on your baby any time you feel unsure.
